About our work in Logistics & Supply Chain
Supply chain software has to work in the physical world, which is a substantially harsher environment than the ones most applications inhabit. Drivers lose signal in loading bays and rural corridors. Scanners get dropped. Warehouse Wi-Fi has dead zones. Ports and terminals send data in formats designed in the 1980s. Weather closes routes. A system that assumes connectivity, clean data and cooperative external parties will fail in its first week of real operation.
We design for that reality. Mobile and handheld applications are offline-first with local persistence, deterministic conflict resolution and background sync that survives being killed by the OS. Integrations tolerate malformed input from partners without dropping messages, with dead-letter queues, replay capability and clear operator visibility into what failed and why. Every process assumes something upstream will be late, wrong or missing, and defines what the system does when it is.
The work spans transport management, real-time shipment visibility and exception management, route optimisation and dispatch, warehouse management and yard operations, freight procurement and rate management, and last-mile delivery with proof of delivery capture. Integration is again the bulk of it: EDI in its many variants, carrier APIs, telematics and ELD data, port and customs systems, ERP and WMS, and increasingly IoT sensor data for cold chain and asset tracking.
The highest-value outcome is usually exception management rather than optimisation. Most operations teams spend their day discovering problems late — a shipment that missed a connection, a delivery window that will be breached, a temperature excursion that has already happened. Systems that detect deviation early and route it to the person who can act, with the context needed to act, change the working day of the operations team more than any routing algorithm.
